In the middle of everything, not on the edge of it

The property sits in the WC2 postcode — the Covent Garden and Holborn area of central London. This is genuinely one of the most well-connected parts of the city. You're not in a student neighbourhood on the outskirts; you're in the middle of everything.

Walking distances

  • LSE (London School of Economics) ~9 minutes
  • King's College London, Strand Campus 7–10 minutes
  • Covent Garden Market ~5 minutes
  • Somerset House ~8 minutes
  • Charing Cross Station ~10 minutes
  • Embankment ~12 minutes
  • Waterloo Station 15–20 minutes

The nearest tube stations include Holborn (Central and Piccadilly lines), Temple (Circle and District lines), and Covent Garden (Piccadilly line). Buses along the Strand and Aldwych run frequently and late into the night, and Santander Cycles docking stations are dotted throughout the neighbourhood.

Nearby universities

  • LSE — London School of Economics
  • King's College London
  • University College London (UCL)
  • Courtauld Institute of Art
  • Royal Academy of Music
  • Guildhall School of Music & Drama

Five major transport hubs and two of London's leading universities within a 20-minute walk.

Approximately 25–35 sq m. Elevated positions in the building, city panoramas, and upgraded interior finishes throughout. Suited to residents for whom the living environment is a genuine priority, not just a place to sleep between lectures.

24-hour reception and Guest Experience

Staff are on-site around the clock — useful both for security and for the practical realities of student life. Beyond reception, a dedicated Guest Experience team handles resident support, and residents have access to a concierge portal for bookings, requests and admin. Secure building access and parcel and mail handling are managed through reception.

All-inclusive, no separate bills

Electricity, water, heating, high-speed Wi-Fi, building maintenance and management are all covered by a single rate. Laundry facilities are available within the building. For students on fixed budgets or international students managing currency exchange, that removes a genuine source of financial unpredictability.

Life in Covent Garden

Supermarkets — Tesco Express, Sainsbury's Local and Waitrose — are within a short walk. Cafés, restaurants and gyms sit on the doorstep. Cultural venues including the Royal Opera House, Somerset House and the Courtauld Gallery are all within easy reach, and the West End is effectively your back garden.

From enquiry to move-in, step by step

Booking through Student Luxe is designed to be straightforward, even if you're doing it from another country. The process generally follows six steps.

01

Submit an enquiry

Specify your preferred room type, move-in date and lease length via the Student Luxe website.

02

Receive a response

The team typically responds within one to two business days with availability, current pricing and next steps.

03

Provide documentation

Supply proof of identity, proof of student status, and — where required — guarantor details.

04

Review and sign

Review and sign the tenancy agreement — this can be done digitally, which matters for international students.

05

Pay the deposit

Secures your room and locks in the agreed rate.

06

Receive move-in details

Key collection instructions, arrival times and building access information.

Lead time from initial enquiry to confirmed booking typically runs one to two weeks. If you're applying ahead of the academic year, starting three to four months in advance is advisable — popular room types fill quickly.

The practical details, answered plainly

The questions below cover the practical details that come up most often during the enquiry process.

Who is eligible to live at The Strand Studios?

The Strand Studios is open to students, postgraduate students and young professionals. You don't need to be enrolled at a specific university — it's open to students from LSE, KCL, UCL and other institutions, as well as young professionals working in central London. Proof of student status (offer letter or student ID) is required for student bookings.

What is the minimum stay duration?

Student Luxe accommodates a range of lease lengths, including semester-length stays, full academic year bookings and shorter-term arrangements. The minimum stay duration should be confirmed directly with the team at the time of enquiry, as it may vary by room type and availability period.

Is there a pet policy?

Pets are not permitted at The Strand Studios. This is standard across professionally managed student accommodation of this type. If you have specific requirements, contact Student Luxe to discuss.

How are maintenance issues handled?

Maintenance requests can be submitted through the concierge portal or reported directly to the on-site reception team. The Guest Experience team is responsible for coordinating repairs and building maintenance. Residents consistently report that issues are handled promptly.

Can international students without a UK guarantor still book?

Yes, in most cases. Student Luxe is experienced in working with international students and understands that many don't have a UK-based guarantor. Alternative arrangements may be available — this is worth discussing early in the enquiry process. Once a booking is confirmed, Student Luxe can also issue a visa support letter, which is useful for both visa applications and university enrolment.

What happens at move-in and move-out?

Move-in details — including key collection, arrival times and building access instructions — are provided once your booking is confirmed. At move-out, residents are expected to leave the studio in its original condition. The deposit is returned subject to a check of the property's condition; any deductions for damage or cleaning will be communicated in writing.

Are virtual tours available?

Yes. The virtual tour covers both Deluxe and Top Floor studio layouts and gives you a clear sense of room size, natural light and interior finishes before you commit. This is particularly useful for international students making decisions remotely.
